	During The Ashdown Forest Dispute 1876-1882 commoners and land owners were interviewed by the solicitor William Raper. Their comments were recorded in a series of notebooks: Turner, William. Aged 65. Timber merchant [and] builder and owns about 20 acres of land. Some of it appears in the old decree of 1691 and I am entitled to Common rights on the forest. ...............
