SARAH COLE

She was born before the family returned to Brasted from County Durham.  She was probably alive when in December 1815 Brasted parish paid Thomas Cole's family for the expense of taking them to "Town". In 1828 Sarah Cole gave birth to an illegitimate son, John Warren Cole, baptised August 26th in Brasted. She must have been very young. In 1842 Sarah Cole, labourer, gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Esther, baptised at Brasted  on November 13th. In 1843 she married Thomas Buckingham of Brasted, labourer, on April 5th. He was the son of Abraham Mitchell and Sarah Buckingham. Witnesses to the marriage were Charles Chapman and Hannah Cole, who themselves married six months later. In 1844 Thomas Mitchell was listed as a poor person unable to pay his rates. In 1850 John Mitchell alias Cole died aged 21; is this John Warren Cole? In 1851 Sarah was a widow, living in Brasted, with Esther and her mother-in-law and brother-in-law. She said that she was born in Abchester and was aged 31. More likely 41.
