In the 1851 census Jane is lodging with William in Hall Place, Lower Bitchett. (seee William`s notes). In the 1881 Census William Humphrey appears as Widower, and Jane as Unmarried Housekeeper. In 1901 this is rectified. Jane came from Hodsoll Street, a tiny village near Ash.
