In the Name of God Amen John Woodhams of Chiddingstone in the County of Kent Yeoman being at this time weak in body but of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same But considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time when this same shall happen do make and ordain this my last Will and testament in manner and form following That is to say first and principally I assign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it fully trusting through the merits and intercession of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to receive full pardon of all my sins and life everlasting in the Kingdom of Heaven and after this painful life is ended my Body I commit to the Earth from whence it was extracted to be directly buried according to the ? of my Executor hereinafter named and as to all such my temporal and worldly estate which is listed so shall please God to bless me with at the time of my death I give and dispose of the same as follows that is to say I give and bequeath unto my two sons John Woodhams and William Woodhams all that my Stock and utensils of Husbandry and Household Goods together with all the Chattels Cattle Corn Grain Hay Straw and all Effects whatsoever belonging to me which shall or may be on and upon the certain Farm and Lands called and known by the name of Hoe-Door in the parish of Hartfield in the County of Sussex where my two sons John Woodhams and William Woodhams do live and reside to be even and equal divided between them share and share alike. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary now wife of Thomas Hollamby the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her in twelve Calendar Months after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann now the wife of John Aynscombe the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid in like manner. I give and bequeath unto my three Grandaughters daughters of my daughter Sarah wife of John Hills deceased the sum of one hundred pounds of like lawful money to be equally and even divided between them by my Executor namely Sarah Hills, Ann Hills and Hannah Hills at the same time and manner as aforesaid. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Woodhams the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of like lawful money to be paid to her in like manner I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Woodhams the sum of one hundred pounds of good and like lawful money to be paid to her when she do arrive to the age of twenty one years by my Executor or his administrator or assign I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah Woodhams the Sum of One hundred pounds of like lawful money to be paid to her when she do arrive to the age of twenty one years by my Executor or his Administrator or assign I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sophiah Woodhams the Sum of One hundred pounds of like lawful money to be paid to her when she do arrive to the age of twenty one years by my Executor or his Administrator or assign and if in case of either or any of my three last mentioned daughters Sarah Susannah and Sophiah should happen to die before they do arrive to the age of twenty one years that then it is my express will mind and meaning that the aforesaid sum or sums of money which shall or may so happen shall still and quietly remain in the hands of my Executor hereinafter named to his ? and benefit I do give devise and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Ann Woodhams the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money to be paid to her when and at the same time my daughter Sophiah do arrive and attain to that age of twenty one years by my Executor or his administrator or his assign And it is my express will mind and meaning that my hereinafter named Executor his administrator or assign shall well and truly provide or cause to be provided at his own expense and cost good and sufficient meat and drink washing and lodging and wearing apparel for during the minority of my three youngest daughters (namely Sarah Susannah and Sophiah and also well and efficiently maintain or cause to be maintained my wife Ann until such time my youngest daughters do arrive to the age of twenty one years which my real mind and meaning is that my said wife Ann and three youngest daughters Sarah Susannah and Sophiah shall live continue and remain in such dwelling house or where my Executor doth or may dwell and live And in case my aforesaid wife Ann and my three youngest daughters Sarah Susannah and Sophiah should happen to disagree and to be disagreeable to my Executor and Trustee hereinafter named then and if after such time if it should so happen I give and bequeath unto my said wife Ann the full sum of thirty pounds a year yearly and every year until such time that my youngest daughter Sophiah do arrive to the age of ten years toward maintenance support and education of my said three daughters Sarah Susannah and Sophiah to be paid by my Executor and Trustee hereinafter named that then and after such time as my youngest daughter Sophiah doth arrive to the age of ten years I give and bequeath to my said wife Ann the full sum of twenty five pounds a year yearly and every year until such time that my youngest daughter Sophiah doth arrive to the age of twenty one years for the support maintenance and education of my daughters as aforesaid and to be paid by me Executor and Trustee or his Administrator or assign Also I give and bequeath unto my two sons aforesaid John Woodhams and William Woodhams over and above more than what I have heretofore given them the sum of one hundred pounds a piece or each of them to be paid by my Executor and Trustee hereinafter named or his Administrator or Assign I give and bequeath unto my son Michael Woodhams and to his heirs and assigns for ever after all just debts owing by me shall be thereout first paid and my funeral expenses and the probate of this my will defrayed and all Dowers and Legacies herein before mentioned first paid and discharged all that my Tenement and Lands called and known by the name of Black House with the Outhouses Barns Buildings Edifices Yards Gardens Orchards and all and singular the arable pastures Meadow and Woodlands thereto belonging with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Chiddingstone in the County of Kent And lastly I do give and bequeath unto my aforesaid son Michael Woodhams excepting what is before excepted all my ready money securities for money debts due to me Goods assets Chattels both real and personal of my Estate of what kind of nature soever or whatsoever And I do hereby nominate to institute and appoint my aforesaid son Michael Woodhams whole and sole Executor and Trustee of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills and bequests by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this last Will and testament contained in two sheets of paper set my Hand and Seal That is to say my Hand to the first sheet and my Hand and Seal to this second and last sheet this twentieth day of December and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety four, John Woodhams X his Mark Signed sealed published and declares by the said John Woodhams the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses in the presence of the said John Woodhams it being interlined before stamped Richard Shoebridge Richard Keeys Tho Sutton
