Frank Richards was born at Saltwood, Kent in 1868 to John and Elizabeth Richards. He grew up in Maidstone before moving to Sevenoks as a reporter on the Sevenoaks Chronicle. He formed a close relationship with the artist and painter Charles Essenhigh Corke and, together, they produced Old Sevenoaks which was printed in the Sevenoaks Chronicle before being published by J. Salmon, 85 High Street, Sevenoaks in 1901. The book gives a fascinating insight into the history and people of Sevenoaks.
