  He married (1) Ruth Dann on 1st Mar 1854 at All Saints Church, Herstmonceux, Sussex. She was born 1830 at Herstmonceux, Sussex; died Oct to Dec 1873, registered at Uckfield District, Sussex, ref: 1873 Q4 Vol 2b Page 65. They had the following children:
