  He married Caroline Best on 2nd Aug 1862 at St. Margaret's Church, Buxted, Sussex. She was the daughter of John Best, carrier and Harriet Best [Osbourne]. She was born 1846 at Maresfield, Sussex; christened 12th Jul 1847 at St Bartholomew Parish Church, Maresfield, Sussex, daughter of John Best (labourer) and Harriet Best. They had the following children:
