The prospect from the Common is very extensive, and it commands a fine panoramic view of the town; a striking object in the foreground of which is Romanoff House, a modern building in the gothic style of architecture. It is occupied by Mr. T. R. Allfree, who has established a classical school here for the education of young gentlemen. The house makes a conspicuous and picturesque object from the London road and many parts of the common.
