Some years ago a very old house in Luxford's field was pulled down, and a number of mean cottages were erected on its site ; these have been designated 'White Rails'. Tradition has it that here stood the bishop's palace : this the writer is not prepared to deny. Even the eye sacerdotal could not have selected a more charming spot for a halting place.
