Ashdown Forest dispute
 

During The Ashdown Forest Dispute 1876-1882 commoners and land owners were interviewed by the solicitor William Raper. Their comments were recorded in a series of notebooks:

Waters, William. Over 70 years of age. Has worked on Tablehurst probably 50 years. He would speak to seeing litter brought on the Farm. He never fetched any.
