	During The Ashdown Forest Dispute 1876-1882 commoners and land owners were interviewed by the solicitor William Raper. Their comments were recorded in a series of notebooks: Dadswell, Edward. 30. Living at new cottage near Crow and Gate. Son of Alfred T. Dadswell who used to use Strood Farm, Buxted. I was born at Strood. As a boy I worked at Wood's nursery in Maresfield and then I went to work at Puxty and have continued to work there ever since, first for Mr. Patmore for 7 years, then for this tenant Mr. Weinholt 5 years. He left this last Michaelmas. We had litter from the Forest every year since I have been at Puxty. I have cut it for 4 or 5 years including the present winter.
